2015-06-04Reducing size of MODE_INFO structScott LaVarnway
Reduced size from 124 bytes to 104 bytes. For decode only builds, it is reduced to 68 bytes. Change-Id: If9e6b92285459425fa086ab5a743d0a598a69de3
2015-05-22Re-worked header filesScott LaVarnway
Various header/test files had to be re-worked in order to build "Remove cm parameter from vp9_decode_block_tokens()". This patch reverts the "Remove cm" part and only contains the re-worked header files. Change-Id: I520958a88d1991fee988a3c784d0eac40e117a32
2015-01-14Add encoder control for setting color spaceYaowu Xu
This commit adds encoder side control for vp9 to set color space info in the output compressed bitstream. It also amends the "vp9_encoder_params_get_to_decoder" test to verify the correct color space information is passed from the encoder end to decoder end. 2014-11-06Change the use of a reserved color space entryYaowu Xu
This commit rename a reserved color space entry to BT_2020, it intends to provide support for VP9 bitstream to pass along the color space type defined in BT.2020(Rec.2020) please note this entry does not have any effect on encoding/decoding behavior, but allow applications to the pass the information along from encoding end to decoding end. 2014-07-17Separates profile 2 into 2 profiles 2 and 3Deb Mukherjee
Separates HBD profile int two profiles (2 and 3) consistent with the highbitdepth branch. This patch is ported from the original highbitdepth branch patch: https://gerrit.chromium.org/gerrit/#/c/70460/ Two of the invalid file tests needed to be updated. 2014-04-08High-level hooks for Profile 2 (10/12 bit)Deb Mukherjee
Adds some high-level hooks for profile 2 before further progress on the implementation. According to the definitiion in this patch: 1. Profile 2 only supports 10 or 12 bit color but not 8 2. Profile 2 supports all color sampling modes: 444, 422 and 420, and alpha plane. 3. Profile 3 is currently undefined. Please consider the definition carefully and suggest modifications to the definition as needed. Change-Id: I5b284fc679e54ac5aee171af72fa7994cfd28995

2013-08-19Change to limit the mv search rangeYaowu Xu
As the pixel values beyond image border are duplicates of pixels on edge, the change limits the mv search range, any mv beyond the limits no longer produce new/different prediction values as entire block with pixels used for subpel interpolation are outside image border. 2013-07-12Some minor cleanups for efficiencyDeb Mukherjee
Implements some of the helper functions more efficiently with lookups rathers than branches. Modeling function is consolidated to reduce some computations. Also merged the two enums BLOCK_SIZE_TYPES and BlockSize into one because there is no need to keep them separate (even though the semantics are a little different). No bitstream or output change. 2013-05-23Merge 4x4 block level partition into codebaseJingning Han
Move 4x4/4x8/8x4 partition coding out of experimental list. This commit fixed the unit test failure issues. It also resolved the merge conflicts between 4x4 block level partition and iterative motion search for comp_inter_inter. Change-Id: I898671f0631f5ddc4f5cc68d4c62ead7de9c5a58
2013-05-14Enable recursive partition down to 4x4Jingning Han
This commit allows the rate-distortion optimization recursion at encoder to go down to 4x4 block size. It deprecates the use of I4X4_PRED and SPLITMV syntax elements from bit-stream writing/reading. Will remove the unused probability models in the next patch. The partition type search and bit-stream are now capable of supporting the rectangular partition of 8x8 block, i.e., 8x4 and 4x8. Need to revise the rate-distortion parts to get these two partition tested in the rd loop. Change-Id: I0dfe3b90a1507ad6138db10cc58e6e237a06a9d6
2013-05-10Add joint motion search in comp_inter_inter mode(experiment)Yunqing Wang
In current code, motion vectors got from single prediction mode are used in compound prediction mode directly. These motion vectors may not give accurate prediction since they are searched independently. In this patch, we took Pascal's suggestion, and did joint motion search in compound prediction mode to find better motion vectors in this situation. Test results: Overall PSNR: 0.570%(derf), 0.918%(stdhd); SSIM: 0.572%(derf), 1.009%(stdhd); The encoder is a little slower. This can be improved since some c code is used in motion search. 2013-05-08Extend left/above partition context to per mi(8x8)Jingning Han
Update and buffer left/above partition information context per 8x8 block. This allows to further enable recursive partition down to 4x4 block size, and hence deprecating I4X4_PRED and SPLITMV. This commit also fixes a context buffer swap/restore issue in 32x32 partition type search. This gives 0.1% performance gain for derf/yt. Will refactor the superblock partition type search into recursion form. Change-Id: Ib61975aca5f12b78d8018481d7fa1393d085689b

2013-04-24Contextual entropy coding of partition syntaxJingning Han
This commit enables selecting probability models for recursive block partition information syntax, depending on its above/left partition information, as well as the current block size. These conditional probability models are reasonably stationary and consistent across frames, hence the backward adaptive approach is used to maintain and update the contextual models. It achieves coding performance gains (on top of enabling rectangular block sizes): derf: 0.242% yt: 0.391% hd: 0.376% stdhd: 0.645% Change-Id: Ie513d9673337f0d27abd65fb566b711d0844ec2e

2013-04-16Recursive partition syntax codingJingning Han
Enable recursive partition information coding from SB64X64 down to MB16X16. The bit-stream syntax is now supporting rectangular block sizes. It starts from SB64X64 and recursively describes the partition type of the current block. If the partition type is PARTITION_NONE, the block is coded as a single unit; if it is PARTITION_HORZ or PARTITION_VERT, the block is segmented into two independently coded rectangular units, with no further partition needed; otherwise, the block is segmented into 4 square blocks. i.e., PARTITION_SPLIT case, each can be potentially further partitioned. Forward adaptive probability modeling is used for the partition information coding, conditioned on the current block size. Change-Id: I499365fb547839d555498e3bcc0387d8a3587d87
2013-04-09Make SB coding size-independent.Ronald S. Bultje
Merge sb32x32 and sb64x64 functions; allow for rectangular sizes. Code gives identical encoder results before and after. There are a few macros for rectangular block sizes under the sbsegment experiment; this experiment is not yet functional and should not yet be used.
